Lotus Lamp Uchiwa

$900.00

Debuted at the Lake Como Design Festival in September 2025.

Fragments, Memory — a living archive.

The Uchiwa Lotus Lamp brings together centuries-old Kyoto craftsmanship and contemporary portable lighting. Traditional Japanese fan-making, hinoki woodworking, hand-applied urushi lacquer, brasswork, and modern LED technology converge in a poetic object that carries fragments of time, place, and memory into contemporary life.

Interchangeable Uchiwa

The illuminated reflector is a traditional Kyoto paper fan handcrafted by Hachiya Uchiwa using bamboo, wood, and handmade washi. These techniques have been practiced for more than 400 years.

The uchiwa is interchangeable. Customers can select their preferred fan or order multiple uchiwa in different colors and patterns, allowing the lamp’s expression to change over time.

Hinoki and Urushi Base

The sculptural base is made by Yamada Wood Workshop from Keihoku hinoki and finished with traditional urushi lacquer by Tsutsumi Asakichi Urushi, founded in Kyoto in 1909.
